In the Hochkönig region, guests from Bischofshofen can also look forward to an attractive cross-country skiing experience. Beginners and advanced skiers can choose from around a dozen groomed trails with a total length of 43 kilometres, most of them around Maria Alm. The Möserloipe, for example, is a challenging trail with tracks for classic style skiers as well as skaters.
The Hochkönig trail near Dienten is one of two high-altitude trails in the region. The 7 km long trail up to the Dientner Sattel offers cross-country skiers a fantastic panorama and is therefore a real highlight. At Mühlbach, the second high-altitude trail leads past the Arthurhaus over 3 km.
Cross-country skiing is also possible in the evening on the Gastegloipe near Maria Alm. This is because the 1 km long trail is floodlit every day in winter until 21:00. The same applies to the 3 km long Gaisbergloipe in Bischofshofen, which is also floodlit if there is enough snow.
