Ski area Obertauern
The high-speed chair lift of the Schaidbergbahn offers space for six people and even has heated seats. The lifts around the modern ski village form the two circular courses "Rote Tauernrunde" and "Grüne Tauernrunde". Thanks to this ingenious ski circus, you can be in the centre of the skiing action in just a few minutes. From your accommodation, you have direct access to the predominantly blue and red pistes and can easily return to the starting point at any time.
The slopes at the Schaidbergbahn and Plattenkarbahn lifts are particularly suitable for beginners. Real experts dare to tackle the notorious Gamsleitenspitze. This deep black piste is one of the steepest mogul slopes in Europe.
Obertauern also offers excellent conditions for little snow fans. Whether in one of the many ski and snowboard schools, in the ski kindergarten or with professional childcare - the little ones are always in good hands here. One highlight is the 30 metre long ski ghost train on the Schaidberg, a wooden tunnel with glowing faces and sound system. In the Bibo Bär family ski park, three specially designed pistes await children and beginners, while Bobby Land offers a wave track and an exciting parcour course for older children.
As a special extra, there are free Wi-Fi hotspots throughout the ski area where you can conveniently connect to the internet. The new, free "iSKI Obertauern" app also offers a wealth of information sent directly to your smartphone.
Night skiing Obertauern
Do you fancy skiing under the starry sky? Then the Obertauern ski area is just the place for you! Night skiing is possible here every Monday and Thursday. Night skiing takes place on the Edelweiss 4-seater chair lift and is aimed at all skiers and snowboarders of all ages who can't get enough of the fun on the slopes during the day. The floodlights built especially for night skiing illuminate the piste over a length of around 1.5 kilometres. Here you can make wonderfully wide turns in the glistening snow at night! Whether you are a beginner or an advanced skier, night skiing is a very special experience for every winter sports enthusiast.Après ski Obertauern
The Edelweißhütte on the mountain and the Lürzer Alm and Latsch'n Alm later in the evening ensure après ski with cult status. There are also regular concerts in Obertauern, which have featured well-known acts such as "Wir sind Helden".
For those who prefer a more sporty approach, the Gnadenalm leisure centre is the place to let off steam. There is a 1.5 km toboggan run that is floodlit every day, a natural ice rink and the opportunity to take part in horse-drawn sleigh rides or snowshoe hiking. Trend sports enthusiasts get their money's worth with snow biking or snow kiting. The Obertauern sports centre offers everything from football and tennis to billiards and fitness.
