Ski holidays Pec pod Snezkou – skiing fun on the Sněžka!

Pec pod Snezkou

Surrounded by numerous mountain flanks lies the spa resort Pec pod Snezkou at an altitude of 769 m, just at the foot of the highest peak in the Czech Republic, the Sněžka (1,602 m), in the eastern Giant Mountains. The former mountaineer village still resembles some traces of the past. These include, for instance, the historical mine, telling the stories of the times when ore mining was still the main industry in this region.

In the meantime the village has become one of the largest and most popular ski resorts of the country. The ski area around Pec pod Snezkou offers pistes of all difficulties and therefore something for everyone. Away from the slopes the mountain spa resort also has much to offer. Long and impressive hiking trails, for example, invite you to explore the landscape of the Giant Mountains.

Giant Mountains

The Giant Mountains form the largest part of the Sudetes, which lie between Poland and the Czech Republic. The Sněžka (Snow Top) is the highest peak of the Sudetes and therefore also the highest mountain in the Czech Republic, with an altitude of 1,600 m. Typical for the region are the jagged stone rims and mountain lakes. Near the peak of Mount Medvědín you can find the source of the River Elbe. The winter sports resorts in the Giant Mountain National Park offer everything necessary for a successful skiing holiday. Here you will find well prepared pistes, modern lift systems, endless cross-country ski tracks on beautiful high plateaus and a variety of leisure time and aprés ski facilities, which don't have to hide their faces from their Austrian counterparts!
