Cross-country Les Saisies

Information on cross-country skiing

192 km Cross-country trails (in km):

Thanks to the combination of five different ski areas, the region has approx. 192 km of cross-country ski trails of varying lengths from 3 to 32 kilometres. The Espace Diamant offers many different routes with different levels of difficulty, so that both beginners and advanced skiers will find plenty of opportunities to burn off energy.

Les Saisies is the house of Nordic skiing! The cross-country skiing and biathlon competitions took place here at the 1992 Winter Olympics and the village has been known as the French cross-country skiing Mecca for 30 years. A total of 120 kilometres of trails are available to winter sports enthusiasts here. Almost all of the more than a dozen trails are located on a wooded but reliability of snow high plateau (1,550 to 1,750 metres).

The entire area offers the best conditions for all cross-country skiers, from beginner trails to challenging circuits at World Cup level. The most difficult and up to 22 kilometres longest loop is the one named after eight-time biathlon world champion Raphaël Poirée. The cross-country trail is even equipped with a timing system that allows amateur cross-country skiers to approach the time set by the French winter sports idol himself.

The Nordic Centre of Les Saisies also offers 20 kilometres of winter hiking trails, 45 kilometres of groomed snowshoe trails and eleven ungroomed snowshoe trails. There are also cross-country trails in the Espace Diamant in Notre Dame de Bellecombe 1350 with a circuit and in Praz sur Arly with a connection to Megève.
