Ski holidays Bayerisch Eisenstein - Idyllic border town on the Großer Arber!

Bayerisch Eisenstein

The quiet town of Bayerisch Eisenstein is the oldest and most densely wooded climatic health resort in the Bavarian Forest. It is nestled in the densely wooded Eisenstein high valley between the Großer Arber (1,456 m) and the border with Czechia. The fact that the German-Bohemian border, the Bavarian Forest National Park and the Czech Šumava meet here gives the town an international feel. It is home to Europe's only border railway station with a local railway museum, of which the locals are very proud. The town is also known for its long tradition of glassmaking. In the border glassworks, high-quality glass products in Bohemian Art Nouveau style are still produced today under the curious gaze of spectators in the show glassworks – the ideal souvenir! This rich culture, the clear air, the snow-covered forests and, of course, cross-border skiing on the Großer Arber on the German side and Špičák (Spitzberg) on the Czech side make Bayerisch Eisenstein an extremely attractive holiday destination.

Bavarian Forest

The Bavarian Forest is the largest forest landscape in Central Europe. In 1970, the Bavarian Forest National Park was founded here, which together with the Bohemian Forest forms the largest contiguous forest reserve in Central Europe. In addition to the Alps, winter sports are also very popular in this part of Germany.

Families in particular will find just the right activities in this area. Those who do not wish to explore the beautiful snow-covered landscape of the Bavarian Forest on skis can also take a romantic ride on a horse-drawn sleigh. It is also worth visiting the famous palaces, castles and monasteries of the Bavarian Forest. You should also check out the numerous restaurants and rustic huts offering both regional and international delicacies.
