Ski area Inselsberg

One of the largest ski areas in the Thuringian Forest is open to all winter sports enthusiasts at the Inselberg, with a total of 3 pistes. The tow lift takes up to approx. 900 m altitude, just below the large plateau of the Inselberg. The longest piste is 1.1 km long and also suitable for beginners, who will feel especially welcome here. Learning to ski is easily possible here, whilst enjoying the wonderful mountain panorama surroundings.

A further ski lift - especially suited for beginners - can be found at the Datenberg in Tabarz.

Après ski Friedrichroda

In the spa area Friedrichroda, relaxation and recreation are the top priorities. In the evenings, you can enjoy some great food in one of the many restaurants, or you can unwind with a wonderful spa treatment in the Parkbad or Therapy Centre. Sweat out the stress in the sauna or steam bath. In the bowling bar you can get together with others and enjoy a fun game on the alley.

Those who want to keep up the sporty activity after a day on the piste, will also find various opportunities to do so. Explore the area by wandering the extensive winter hiking trail network. A total of 30 km of trails are available here. A little more romantic is a horse-drawn sleigh ride. Near Waltershausen, ice skaters can skate their rounds on the ice rink in the leisure centre "Gleis3eck". On the toboggan slope at Ochsenschau, fun is guaranteed on the sledges.

If you prefer a more culturally orientated programme, a visit to the local museum is worth while. Or go and see the smallest brewery in western Thuringia, the brewery Friedrichroda. The show mine Marienglashöhle gives a vivid impression of mining life in the past, and it also offers a wonderful insight into the crystal grotto - one of the most beautiful in Europe.
