Ski holidays Hinterzarten - magnificent Hochschwarzwald!

Hinterzarten

A winter paradise worth visiting, called Hinterzarten, can be found at 900 m altitude, in the area of the Hochschwarzwald. The resort is especially known for the locally born ski jumper Dieter Thoma, or also Sven Hannawald, who lived here for some time. Hinterzarten impresses visitors with its picturesque panorama. The town itself is characterised by the pretty church building and the typical Black Forest style houses. The renowned "Adlerschanzen" (Eagle's jump) is the annual venue for the international summer ski jump event and in winter it is used mainly for the junior Ski World Championships. A great place to visit is the Hungenhof, which offers a ski museum and displays the history of skiing in this area. Diverse pistes and cross-country trails in the vicinity are great for burning off some steam, and serve the purpose to experience first-hand just why this area is so popular.

Black Forest

Schwarzwälder Kirschtorte (Black Forest cherry cake), Cuckoo clocks and the "Bollenhut" (traditional women's hat) - all this is typical for the Black Forest region and enjoys world-wide recognition. 160 km long and approx. 60 km wide is the expanse of this central German mountain range, covering 11,400 m² in close proximity to Switzerland and France. The Black Forest, with its more than 70 peaks over 1,000 m altitude, is the highest of the German central mountain ranges. Sporty Alpine skiers, expectant cross-country goers, loves of good wine and cuisine and all those looking for some relaxation and pampering, are welcome to experience the benefits of the Black Forest.
