In midst of the romantic Val Pusteria lies the beautiful Chienes (German: "Kiens"). It is one of the oldest parishes in the valley and offers guests ideal conditions for an excursion into nature, be it alpine skiing, cross-country skiing or snow shoe hiking. You can enjoy the central location of the ski region Plan de Corones (Kronplatz) while being far away from the hustle and bustle. Ski and cross-country buses take you conveniently from Chienes to the pistes and trails of the region. Moreover, the place is a favourite among winter and snowshoe hikers.

Plan de Corones

At the foot of the Plan de Corones (2,275 m), in the centre of the picturesque Val Pusteria, are 14 diverse and attractive South Tyrolean villages. Modern gondolas start from various stations and speed up to the peak, from which imposing 360-degree views unfold. Diverse sporting events take place here on a regular basis, e.g. the Val Pusteria ski marathons including the Valle di Casies run, the biggest sporting event in South Tyrol. 121 kilometres of piste, approx. 31 modern lifts, a half-pipe, as well as ample recreational and sporting opportunities and lively après ski ensure a good deal off piste! This ski area is also great for families, thanks to numerous facilities such as the "Croniworld".
