Bodenmais

The climatic spa resort Bodenmais is situated in midst of the Bavarian Forest at approx. 689 m altitude, directly at the foot of the "Großer Arber", with 1,456 m the highest mountain in Bavaria outside the Alpine region. The history of mining dominates the resort. As early as the 15th century the area was well-known for silver mining. Later on the first glass factories appeared. During the past decades, Bodenmais has developed to become Germany's largest glass refining centre and offers besides many glass-blowing factories also the largest selection of lead crystal. But also tourism plays a great role in the area. There is a huge selection of winter hiking trails, some ski and toboggan runs, as well as a largely extended cross-country trail. The Bavarian Forest's landscape will fascinate you!

Bavarian Forest

The Bavarian Forest is the largest forest landscape in Central Europe. In 1970, the Bavarian Forest National Park was founded here, which together with the Bohemian Forest forms the largest contiguous forest reserve in Central Europe. In addition to the Alps, winter sports are also very popular in this part of Germany.

Families in particular will find just the right activities in this area. Those who do not wish to explore the beautiful snow-covered landscape of the Bavarian Forest on skis can also take a romantic ride on a horse-drawn sleigh. It is also worth visiting the famous palaces, castles and monasteries of the Bavarian Forest.
