The 30 kilometres of cross-country skiing trails in Füssen are considered a top region for cross-country skiers - and not just because Neuschwanstein Castle forms the backdrop. The groomed trails are suitable for both classic-style and skating-style skiing and offer connections to the trail networks in Hopfen am See or Weißensee. An easy circuit for beginners is the trail to the Schorenhof: a beautifully flat circuit of 8 kilometres with mountain views. The cross-country trails to the boat harbour on nearby Forggensee (three kilometres) or to Weißensee (eight kilometres) are ideal for experienced runners. There are also two loops around the Tegelberg near Schwangau: either 4 kilometres (small) or 8 kilometres (large).
The absolute highlight, however, is the Neuschwanstein circuit. The floodlit night trail is easy to run for everyone, it is 1.7 km long and runs below Neuschwanstein. This gives you an extraordinary view of the famous castle.
