In Oberstdorf, you can literally follow in the footsteps of world champions! The Nordic World Ski Championships have already been held three times in this climatic health resort in the Allgäu region. In 2016, the FIS decided that the 2021 Nordic World Ski Championships would also be held in Oberstdorf. This means that the ski village will once again live up to its status as a premium cross-country skiing centre. Sunny trails in the valley floor form an extensive network of around 70 km of classic tracks, 67 km of which are also suitable for skaters. Almost all of the eleven trails are connected, opening up side valleys and connecting districts. In addition, the World Championship cross-country stadium is a well-maintained facility with snow-covered trails. Together with the approximately 50 kilometres of trails in the Kleinwalsertal valley on the Austrian side, this cross-border cross-country skiing region is a real gem for Nordic sports.
