Cross-country Bavarian Forest

Cross-country skiing enthusiasts are guaranteed to get their money's worth in the Bavarian Forest region. The Bodenmais Activity Centre is considered one of the most snow-sure cross-country skiing areas in Germany. In addition to the Bodenmais Activity Centre at Bretterschachten and the DSV Nordic Active Cross-Country Skiing Centre in Sankt Englmar, 14 other cross-country skiing areas such as Dreiburgenland, Bayerisch Eisenstein and the Zwieslerwaldhaus Ski Hiking Centre are part of the large cross-country skiing association of the Bavarian Forest. Accessibility to the cross-country skiing areas is ensured by a well-developed bus network. In total, there are over 2,000 km of excellently groomed circular trails and routes available here, making this area the largest cross-country skiing area in Germany. Cross-country trails also lead across the border into the Czech part of the Bohemian Forest.

The Bodenmais and Arnbruck trail network alone, which is always excellently groomed, offers 114 km of classic trails and around 110 km of skating trails. A particularly attractive trail is located in the Neureichenau area on the 29 km long Adalbert Stifter Trail, which runs along a former railway line. In addition, several floodlit trails are available for evening cross-country skiing.
